Moral/compassionate considerations of aid completely aside -- and they are huge -- this is far, far, far less expensive than dealing with the downstream effects of failed states and support for terrorism in the absence of this kind of stabilizing support.

My instinct is to make the case that USAID is extremely good, actually. But I feel like it’s more important to say, “What is happening is antagonistic to the foundational document of the nation.”
