50 years ago, Alexander Shulgin showed that 4-alkylated 2,5-dimethoxyamphetamines peak in potency with 2–3 carbon chains. We suggest longer chains reduce psychedelic-like effects mainly due to poor brain penetration, not reduced receptor activity. doi.org/10.1038/s413...

Nice to meet you all here!

1) I began with characterizing designer drugs and later transitioned to bioanalysis of psychedelics

2) I'm mostly setting up methods for the bioanalysis of upcoming phase I studies

3) Arrested Development is my favorite TV show—I should watch it once again soon
Bluesky Psychedelics People: Let's (re-)intro ourselves to one another!

Quote this post and tell us:

1) What you do in the field

2) A project you're currently working on

3) A show/film/book you're enjoying

Here is a starter pack I put together featuring all the psychedelic science researchers and journalists I could find on here. Let me know who I'm missing. It'd be great to get the conversation going on this platform go.bsky.app/NPvFX41

Thrilled to share the final product for an excellent collaboration with A. Sherwood & co at Usona Institute 😎.

Extending norpsilocin by a single methyl group to N-ethyl is sufficient for psychedelic-like activity in mice. Full story & SAR linked below:

Very nice early Christmas gift from our research group. Some insights into Albert Hofmann's work at Sandoz from the Novartis archives. A very nice read while waiting for the mass spec to measure our latest LSD plasma samples. #psychedelics #neuroskyence
