I lived most of my life in CA before moving to PDX. I often use burning landscape as a “backdrop” for figures in my work. Climate collapse has made exploring the human condition feel both urgent and pointless. Every Monday is a Monday if you love your wife!

For a long time I didn’t know art like this existed. Academia and online “community guidelines” hid an entire genre from my young, hungry eyes. Like all art isn’t masturbatory in some way.

Guess I’ll start sharing my work on here although it’s more fun to talk about other artists. I work in a lot of different mediums. Here are a few:
Tattoo (Tom of Finland)/ colored pencil/ lithograph

The social media landscape feels a bit ominous, but our lovely freaky ancestors have shown us it’s possible to share outside the algorithm.

I think my early archetypal conditioning makes seeing “bliss face” feel like a vacation. Like “Look, everyone’s happy, you can slow down.”
I know these are just portrayals but they are portals to peace for me.

The level of anonymity pre socials has a huge appeal. Is my cashier part of this secret world? The person I’m sitting next to on the bus?
The ability to wonder about other peoples lives feels like a gift of the past.

Each one is a portal. I feel like I’m on a noble journey (I’m delusional), unearthing things that need to be appreciated a little bit longer.
What are these people doing now?

First 3 imgs are digital renderings by an unknown artist. Last img is a painting by @sashayazov.
It’s interesting to see how contemporary (airbrush) painters call back to the digital 2000s. The line between human/ AI is blurring and it feels like watching a pretty sunset.

Born 1889 in France. This guy served in ww1 and lived to tell everyone it sucked. His vibrant anti-clerical work has been adopted by the surrealists although he never identified with that movement.
It’s fun seeing the parallels in contemporary painters like Joyce Lee (last img)

It’s hard to find much about Mormax. I think the anonymity is refreshing in contrast to today’s personal celebrity obsession.
Mormax feels like an 80s fever dream with y2k sensibilities (some drawings have cell phones)

Her series Escape Fantasy has had me in a chokehold since I first saw it in 2020. Being horny during the apocalypse was absolutely the vibe.
She has so many incredible pieces it was so hard to pick just 4

Researching erotic illustrators sometimes feels like peeling an onion. Many illustrators have had at least one pen name/ alias so tracking them down can be a task. 🙃
