@paris.nyc you could program the badge to offer Shrimp and whoever gets it will need to learn python programming to get the best out of it $25 from the GitHub shop

@paris.nyc - instead of a yard of beef why not try a GitHub programmable badge … just a thought …

Fabulous session at St Ann’s Well Academy exploring how to use ClassVR within and across the curriculum.

Great teachers, asking really good questions & exploring ideas. Inspiring Head who has some exciting ideas about how to move forward - altogether a brilliant afternoon! @LEADITServices

Off on my travels again …. Nottingham bound to cover the use of @ClassVR with another fabulous @LEADAcademyTrust school …. accompanied by a set of headsets. @LEADITServices

I had a great day carrying out a light touch review of the IT provision across a number of colleges in Oxford University yesterday and particularly enjoyed visiting some of the historic environments in which students are taught.

AI in Education - My response to the DfE Consultation.

Over the summer the DfE carried out a consultation about AI and education. Here's some of the response that I provided.

Digital Divide - a young guy trying his best - chatting to him highlights the digital divide. His home is too crowded & noisy to do his homework so he does it on the train. His mate uses an iPad & always gets better marks than the rest of the class - he’s never heard of ChatGPT

School colleagues & #Cottesesmoresfreeaifestival take a look at the comic generator on Hugging Face. Could be used in all sorts of contexts within school - here's something I made earlier. #AIinEducation

Really looking forward to the session from @suttontrust this morning at cottesmoreschool.com/A-I-FESTIVAL/ Colleagues interested in the potential #AIDigitalDivide may want to Zoom in (link on their web page) or watch out for the recordings when they are released #Cottesmoresfreeaifestival

My setup for attending the #cottesmoresfreeaifestival sat in the university library and enjoying the ideas & experiences #AIinEducation

Another early, but also quite chilly, start. Off to the office developing some physical computing ideas with the @microbit_edu & finalising preparations for the start of term.
August 29, 2023 at 5:13 AM
Sometimes grief just hits you - on the way to the team development day the driver took me past a school where a good friend was a Head, one of the most wonderful educators I ever knew, who tragically died of cancer too young & still fighting for her pupils - tears flowed
August 25, 2023 at 7:23 AM
Off early for a team development day - always good to catch up with colleagues who work in our schools on a daily basis.
August 25, 2023 at 5:06 AM
Finally finished responding to the DfE consultation on Generative AI in Education - did anyone else respond? If so should we collate everyone’s responses to see the direction of travel & if there are any commonalities?

My walk to the train station is much longer since I moved but …
August 21, 2023 at 4:56 AM
Off to the office this morning to continue the rollout of @ClassLink to our schools plus work on a “laptop driving licence” for the learners in our 1-2-1 pilot schools - does anyone else have examples of what they do? @Tonihammy?
August 21, 2023 at 4:53 AM
Amazing what you find when you move! Who had one of these?
August 16, 2023 at 3:50 PM
One of the challenges that the future use of #AIinEducation poses is how to help both teachers & learners make use of #AI to ENHANCE what they are doing rather than replacing. Yes, #AI can write a lesson plan but how do you make it YOUR lesson plan?

Off for a Team Day with @leadictservices at @altontowers …. But at the conference centre, not the park …. Personally I think discussing the merits of VR v AR whilst being tossed around & screaming would bring a new set of insights!!
July 28, 2023 at 5:18 AM
Off early on the train again for a day discussing implementing @Classlink across several MATs & cloud backup for @Google & @MSEducationUK as well as more work on #AI guidance for schools.
July 17, 2023 at 5:03 AM
Another early start, on a train up to head office for an #AI day exploring the development of an AI policy framework to share with schools next term so that they can adapt & extend it based on their local context.
July 14, 2023 at 5:10 AM
Another early trip to a school to discuss 1-2-1. Things are really hotting up after the initial success of our first pilot.
