This is one of those archaeology news pieces where it's a fascinating idea, and it's plausible, but it is pretty difficult to pin specific historical events to archaeological evidence. Or in more academic language...

Looks like a musket ball to me. Found in my garden on top of a mole hill. Placed there very carefully by a mole.
