Using six wavelength bands, from the ultraviolet to the infrared, #Hubble has observed the spiral galaxy NGC 5042 in all its multicoloured magnificence!

The spiral galaxy NGC 5042. It is noticeably bright around the central region of its disc, then dims somewhat out to the edge where there are fewer stars. Two spiral arms circle through the disc and emerge beyond its edge, around the galaxy’s sides. Many pink spots of new star formation, as well as dark reddish strands of dust, cover the galaxy. The arms contain some speckled, blue patches containing hot stars.

(from '22 and inspired by vampire bats french kissing with blood to bond with each other, so why not vampires)! :)

A tiny bracelet for a 1/6 scale friend! My poor little guy is still unstrung and half-finished, but I can't stop making things for them. The next job will be to make a matching bracelet for their future girlfriend, even though she won't exist for a ✨while✨

🔭 The Universe is a dusty place.

This NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope picture shows swirling clouds of gas and dust near the Tarantula Nebula, the most productive star-forming region in the nearby Universe, home to the most massive stars known.
A portion of a nebula, made of variously-coloured layers of dust clouds. One upper layer is dark reddish dust which is dense and obscures light, in places so dense that it appears black. A middle layer is pale clouds that are thick like curling wisps of smoke. They form a broad bow across the centre of the image. Many small, bright stars lie throughout the nebula, coloured blue, purple or red depending on depth.
