A review of Dianetics, by someone who will definitely not be converting any time soon.
I am so sorry, everyone! I have been busy with multiple projects lately, but I am coming back to this! I am getting Chapter 2 ready!

Dianetics Chapter One: A Quote

"Simple though it is, Dianetics does and is these things....

2. It contains a therapeutic technique with which can be treated all inorganic mental ills and all organic psychosomatic ills, with assurance of complete sure in unselected cases."

Dianetics Chapter One: A Review (pt2)

L. Ron uses this chapter to express the idea of a "Science of Mind", a kind of cure-all state of being, claiming that all aberrations are, essentially, psychosomatic, or created by the mind, and that Dianetic is the sole solution.

Dianetics Chapter 1: A review

The chapter opens with... Racism. So that's enjoyable.

Kicking it off strongly, we have L. Ron informing us that any cultural variance is entirely lost on him, and that expenses to spiritual practice. He quickly labels them false...

As we dig further into the book Dianetics, I'll give you the occasional word used by L. Ron Hubbard, hopefully to give you a better idea of some of the topics discussed in each part.

A new word for Chapter One:

Aberration: a departure from rational thought/behavior.

I'll be posting more about the book later today! I'll be kicking it off with some interesting, to say the least, vernacular that's pretty exclusive to L. Ron, and will definitely need defining going into this. See you soon!

"How To Read This Book" (3/3) summarized:

The open tells you that this is therapeutic, and the only way to fully know yourself. Using 'basic' language and 'philosophy' (while also talking down on philosophers?) this tells you, in the most roundabout way, that it's an easy read. And a hard read. 🤷🏼

"How To Read This Book" (2/3)

"'Basic Language' has been used, much of the nomenclature is colloquial; the pedantic has not only not been employed, it has also been ignored." Dianetics, by L. Ron Hubbard

That is a lot of complicated language to say "we're using simple language."

The first part of the book is, quite literally, "How To Read This Book" (1/3)

Opening the book, as any good 'Leader' does, Hubbard tells us we don't know ourselves at all, and the *only* way to really know ourselves is through dianetics. 🚩

My first impression is.... Let's just say it's a bit wordy. I think this whole book could have been condensed into 100 pages, but GOOD GOD does Hubbard like to hear himself talk. #bookreview #booksky #dianotit #book #scient #ology

I recently picked up a copy of Dianetics, an important book to a very specific group of people.

I decided to start reading it, so you don't have to! Give me a follow to enjoy this.... Adventure... With me.
