Student AI use: thought partner or replace thinking. For students it always seems to be the latter. Copying & pasting from GPT is getting out of control. Why do students choose this path over thinking - even when they know the answer. Laziness? Homework overload? Lack of relevance? Discuss #Edusky

Using GenAI can be disheartening. I pride myself on my ability to write in Seuss-like rhyme. I asked AI to provide feedback on a document but respond in rhyming verse. Watching how quickly & easily it crafted whimsical rhyming comments, I know how Salieri felt watching Mozart. sigh. crestfallen.

Google Forms is having all kinds of issues. Respondents must request access even though the form is set so "anyone with the link" can access. It is just me? #edusky

@alicekeeler.com has been raving about Cracker Barrel for years. Finally tried it today. Where has this place been all my life?

When you ask ChatGPT to write test questions for you, be sure to include "higher order thinking" in your prompt. You'll be much more pleased with the results. #edusky

I do like that BlueSky allows you to decide who can interact with your posts.

For those of you using Adobe Express Edu on iPad: If you're frustrated that students cannot join classes know that their engineers are working to fixing this in an upcoming app update. "If everything goes as planned, they are targeting its release in Q1 (between December and February)." #edusky

My colleague just shared this. Open AI's "Student's Guide to Writing with ChatGPT". I wonder if their AI wrote it. :P #edusky openai.com/chatgpt/use-...

My 2019 MacBook is on it's last legs. Replace now? or limp it along and wait until new ones are released in March? #edusky

For those of you who struggle with software that locks down devices for testing (Bluebook, Examplify) on iPads and have been suffering app crashes every time your students try to type answers to essay or short answer questions, iOS 17.1 seems to be the trick to making it work again. #edusky

If you're sharing a GDoc with someone be careful when editing your message. If you highlight message text and accidentally drag your mouse pointer outside the text box, you'll be prompted to "discard changes". If you're typing fast, it's easy to hit a key and lose all your typing. #edusky

Now that I'm back in the US I've had to migrate from Microsoft back to Google. I've discovered that the Google Apps for iPad are simply awful. So awful, that I've deleted them and have gone back to opening Google through Safari to get the functionality that the apps were missing.

And just like that, our China adventure is over. It has been both wonderful and challenging, we will miss the amazing people and the lifelong friends we met along the way. I hope for an opportunity to return & visit Shanghai again. Looking forward to a new start at a new school in Las Vegas. #EDUsky

Apple Vision Pro - Amazing tech that seems to be mindful of the human experience - traditionally Apple's strong suit. Considering the promised capabilities, I am not shocked by the price tag, or by the tether to power or battery requirement. My Quest2 is quite heavy on the face. #EDUsky

How to leave well...
- Be okay leaving projects unfinished, knowing that they are being passed down to capable hands. No Leavers Guilt.
- Be intentional about making time for people. Learning is all about relationships.
What an amazing/challenging 8 years. Goodbye Shanghai. 3 more days. #EDUsky

Treading lightly into a new social media community. While it’s refreshing to feel the optimism of trying something new, there remains a sense of loss for what is left behind. What about the archive of my digital life from previous communities? Can that be connected to the new? Should it?
