I keep reading that ACA deadline for signup is tonight but I've triple-checked CoveredCA.com and I think California has a different deadline.

I found a few sources that there are seven states with a different deadline. I hope they aren't all AI slop answers, or we'll be even more screwed.

Though I think Medicare-for-all would be a better plan, I would join Costco Cares ™
Rand Paul on his healthcare plan: "What if you could join Costco? Costco has 44m members and if one person negotiated for all 44 and they bought a group plan like Toyota or General Motors does, they would be the largest collective entity in the country. They would drive prices down by sheer might."

I get the concern. Europe wants to maintain its cultures and societies. European nations need to pace the rate that they can absorb new arrivals.

But for countries where the birth rate has been slowly dropping for decades, this is an amazing problem to have.

No matter how fabulous you expect fried plantain chips and peanut butter to be — and I did expect them to be quite fabulous — the reality is that they will be EVEN MORE FABULOUS.

They are fractally fabulous. No matter how much fabulousness you've already experienced, there is always more fabulous.

Earthquake!

Felt in San Carlos, between Redwood City and San Mateo.

Yeah, I really screwed up in choice of ACA plan Oct 1. Not only does it cost $2400/month and rising to $5800/month next year:
- it has declined most claims either for the facility or provider or lab tech, though I had checked as best I could.

We are now further away from the theatrical release of Raiders of the Lost Ark (June 12, 1981) than it was from the year it takes place in (1936). We have reached the Indiana Jones event horizon.

Ok. I am tired. Traditional Thanksgiving Pork Wellington, Potatoes Dauphinoise, fresh baked bread, all from scratch (*).

Is it too early to start establishing myself as a Y2K38 expert to get some of that sweet, sweet payola ~10 years from now?

Like COBOL in 2000, but for time_t in 2038.

arXiv no longer accepting submissions until after peer review is sadly necessary to fend off the torrent of AI slop, but cuts off a venue which made papers available which wouldn't have otherwise been available.

Continuous trolling of the Pope via custom sports jerseys was not on my 2025 bingo card.
This is a real: Pope Leo XIV was gifted a Buffalo Bills jersey.

The Diocese of Buffalo said Bishop Fisher met with the Pope on Monday to discuss the ongoing bankruptcy filing, among other issues.

Pope Leo was said to have "expressed his gratitude for this symbol of hometown pride." #billsmafia

I am having to educate myself in a hurry about self-employment tax in the US, and the tax implications of receiving contract income as an individual or forming an LLC to do so.

As I'm basically doing random web searches now, does anyone have suggestions of more specific resources to consult?
