Thinking About AI Art with Dominic McIver Lopes in Porto
<p>On February 6, at the Batalha Centro de Cinema, I had the pleasure of taking part in the Porto session of the <a href="https://dfaria.eu/28409">symposium with Dominic McIver Lopes</a>. The <a href="https://dfaria.eu/27187">roundtable</a> brought together Vítor Guerreiro, Gonçalo Marcelo, and myself, and I presented a talk titled “In what sense could AI Systems be artists?”. The discussion was followed by Dominic McIver Lopes’s lecture “AI Art and Artists: What They Are, What They Could Be, What They Should be”, closing a lively and inspiring afternoon of exchange on aesthetics and technology.</p><figure><figure><img width="1024" height="576" src="https://dfaria.eu/df/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Unknown-1024x576.jpeg" alt="" /><button type="button" aria-haspopup="dialog"></button></figure></figure><figure><figure><img width="1024" height="576" src="https://dfaria.eu/df/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/1000043191-1024x576.jpg" alt="" /><button type="button" aria-haspopup="dialog"></button></figure><figure><img width="1024" height="576" src="https://dfaria.eu/df/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/1000043190-1024x576.jpg" alt="" /><button type="button" aria-haspopup="dialog"></button></figure></figure><figure><img width="1024" height="768" src="https://dfaria.eu/df/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/IMG_7974-1024x768.jpeg" alt="" /><button type="button" aria-haspopup="dialog"></button></figure>
