Saw John Scofield's trio with Vincente Archer and Bill Stewart last night. It was great, catch them if you can. Highlights for me were Cara Bley's "Lawns" and something I had never heard Sco play before: Sonny Rollins "Airegin." It smoked, of course.

Pedroia and Wright are borderline-borderline cases. They had a few great seasons, buy neither have anything on the resumes that compares with, say Utley's monstrous 2004-2009. There were points where I thought both would end up being worthy. Nope. Mauer has a better case than either, and he's iffy.
