I create artwork that examines the intersection between global consumerism and the intimate connection we have with what we wear. Based in Queens, New York and the Catskill Mountains.

I’m in a group show that opens tomorrow, Wednesday, January 14, from 6–8 pm. Hope to see you there! I’ll have drawings included in a collaborative “exquisite corpse” that connects in all four directions. I expect it will look sort of like a quilt. Here’s a sneak preview of one of the squares I made.

I’m happy to be part of Still Utopia:
Broken Links, a group show opening tomorrow, Wednesday, January 14. The exhibition includes drawings by all of the artists, but I'm especially excited about the large exquisite corpse quilt/ drawing we made together.

Came across this feature from @booooooom! and was astonished to see that it’s from 15 years ago, featuring work from the first 10 years of my art career.

I’ve done so much work but I have so many projects still living in my head!

Clothing becomes structure, structure becomes movement, movement becomes sound. Locomotors is an intergenerational ensemble that fuses live music and dance through improvisation and composition.

Where we are... where we are going

WIP wall-work for a new commission. Excited to be back to this piece.
Made from over 300 seams from unwearable second-hand clothing. There is some ochre in there.. do I keep it or remove it?

Where we are now. Where we are going.
I'm close to finishing this wall-work, made from over 300 seams from unwanted second-hand clothing. It will be 20" x 18” and appear to be emerging from the wall.

Wrapped! So great to collaborate with the brilliant Kelly Reemtsen at Galleri Oxholm. Working with Kelly pushed my practice in bold new directions, and the gallery couldn't have been more supportive. Huge thanks to both!

This mini stack of second-hand clothing is almost ready to roll.
Collaborating with Kelly Reemtsen, I mirrored the colors of the dress in her painting.
Both works will be part of our upcoming show, Gathering Threads, opening soon at Galleri Oxholm in Køge, Denmark.

We’re thrilled to invite you to our show at Galleri Oxholm. This collaborative project is a celebration of artistic dialogue–an exploration of how different materials, techniques, and perspectives can come together to create something entirely new.

Did you ever create a time capsule? I made this one in 1976. The instructions are to open it 100 years from this year. I can't decide what to do. Do I open it? What would you do? #TimeCapsule #1976 #CharlesChips #TheSeventies #BallstonSpa

Remembering how much fun it was to make a giant, inflatable, “lost mitten” for Hobart and William Smith Colleges back in 2015.

Going through some papers this morning, I came across the initial sketch, inspiration, and pattern making artifacts. Link in bio for a video of the resulting work.
