Prof Xiao Lan Curdt-Christiansen becomes the latest member of the Dept of Education to be listed in the Elsevier database of the most cited scientists worldwide (Aug 2025). She joins Prof Carol Taylor, Dr Tristan Bunnell and Dr Jim Hordern: a testament to the impact of our research community.

Elisabeth Barratt Hacking, Head of the Department of Education, and Mir Abdullah Miri, a PhD researcher in the Department, have met with Prof Cllr Bharat Pankania, the Mayor of Bath, to discuss his theme for the year: ‘Education is Empowerment’.

Eliane Bastos is a biologist by training, with a strong foundation in natural sciences. Motivated by a passion to make science more accessible, Eliane is studying for a PhD in the Dept of Education at Bath. She says that she values the inclusive and welcoming environment of the Department.
