@tim-stillman.bsky.social Hi Tim, I'm also a subscriber to the theory about teams with strikers that get the bulk of the goals. Gary Lineker's 42-goal season at Everton was when they finished second in the league and the cup, winning the league the seasons either side

Will Labour really go in with FF/FG, having seen what happened the Greens? Some people would say that that would be Bacik crazy
December 1, 2024 at 1:34 PM
Asking, "Are we seeing the end of civil-war politics?" doesn't really carry the same weight after four years of FF/FG coalition and four years before that of supply and confidence

The life cycle of the battle for the Ireland out-half position

“The guy we have is too good, we’re goosed when he retires”

“There’s a battle for the spot, the uncertainty is unhelpful”

“Wait - what if we play one at 10 and one at 12, go with a second playmaker?”

Figo against England at Euro 2000 a prime example - some people went so far as to suggest he played for the deflection
I am militant about deflections - you simply cannot consider a deflected strike a 'great goal'. And therefore I am amazed how much praise Hutchinson is getting for that goal yesterday. I think there's almost no chance - OK let's say 10% - that's going in until the defender nods it in.
