Solidarity? Was that the first thing he felt when he saw her. Curiosity? Something else something else–

Other words burned on his tongue as he'd walked into Cut's workshop that morning. Had listened to her bark her orders like he was an equal.

Had moments where he'd just stared at her body, knowing someone had sculpted it in their vision. That she existed in the shape of desire, of a dream.

His eyes had stopped at the line of her Dollstrings. At where these strange burns spread over half of her body like

like the Astral Sea.

Had wanted to reach out, know. Were they warm. Could he move them around like liquid. Or were they crystal and cold, hard against a touch.

Someone else collided with him again, frustration pulled his lips back far to bare teeth ready to speak more than words.

But when he'd blinked away the soot the sweat, the ringing in his ears dissolved. And all he could hear was

"Voss—"

He'd hated the way Orpheus had said his name the first time they'd met. Wanted to snatch it from his mouth with claws with teeth.

And he supposed he did that night. Taking it back with a sweet song and moan.
