I think that if Jayce is like a big dog who doesn't know how much physical space he takes up, then Viktor is a cat in that if he's decided to sit on you, he doesn't give a shit if you're ready for it or not: he's coming in.
I can see that Viktor could have shown up to the couch after Jayce laid down and could have picked any spot, but specifically chose to squeeze himself between the couch and Jayce and have Jayce be his own personal weighted blanket.
