There are at least 25 Robins in the yard today flocking around and making a big racket... is it Spring already? We'd normally have snow on the ground in Feb, and freezing temps, but it's 44 DF out, and we've had no snow yet this winter. Maybe the mildest winter we've seen here in 13 years.

Our boy Louie's a year old today, at least according to the estimated birth date he was given at the shelter. He's at 64 lbs now, turning into a big barrel-chested bruiser. He's grown up so much since his gotcha day 10 months ago.

I turned my back on him for one minute. That's all the time Louie needs to roll up this 6' circular rug, drag it over to the ottoman, and chew on the edge. Such a brat- he's done this a bunch of times, and always chews on the same spot... 🤬

Here's my first food post... This cold blustery day demanded that I make some comfort food: French onion soup, toasted French bread with melted Gruyere cheese, a nice mixed salad, a charcuterie appetizer selection, and a lovely Zinfandel wine. Mm mm, so good.

It's been a year since we lost our sweet Buddy dog to melanoma. He was the absolute best hiking dog you could ever hope for, and an all-around great guy. We still miss him every single day. 💔

Poor Duckie got reduced to unrecognizable remains after 1 day with Louie.
I think maybe he'll get no more store-bought stuffies, they just aren't built to last.

I've just finished this Black Walnut Buddhist bell stand, it's 16" tall and 9" across the top. It will stand on the floor next to the altar. I've got lots of short slabs of this beautiful Walnut left; trying to think of some more creative small projects to use it for.

A small furniture piece made from stripy black walnut. It has an octagonal top and bottom, and is basically constructed of a 3-sided box with a 'hook' cut into the front. Here's the stand as it would be used. The bell rests on a cushion on the top, and the ringer mallet is stowed in the hook cutout.
