When we first published about Semicolon owner Danielle Moore’s fundraiser to keep the bookstore alive, she had raised $9,000.

Now her Kickstarter is at $17,000.

The goal is $25,000.

“If it works, that’s great. We can stay,” she says.

BLACK HISTORY — During segregation, early Black basketball thrived in what is known as the Black Fives era; a period of amateur, semi-professional and professional basketball before the launch of the NBA.

One prominent Chicago team from that era is the Savoy Big Five.

Some extremely good news: yesterday, the Illinois Opioid Remediation Advisory Board approved up to $18 million in funding for up to three overdose prevention sites (!!!) AND a one-time $20 million for housing. Harm reduction saves lives.
