If you come to Muswell Parlour on Sat night you will get to hear me reading some of my teenage diary, a terrible teen poem, and an old love letter as well as something new I've written about middle-age love and who wouldn't want that?

To bed early tonight, to read this by flickering candlelight

How can I sleep? What an amazing night in London, and seeing the photos of @saloneurope.bsky.social events all around Europe

I'm just going to cry forever about how lovely it all is

Happy birthday to @saloneurope.bsky.social! I can't believe it's been 2 years.

My personal favourite moments being: the panel in Brussels with @kitdewaal.com, Philippe & Balsam our first incredible event @lettretage.de and that 1st Brussels weekend writing in the square with @kiklodge.bsky.social

Sylvia Plath left us on this day in 1963, slain by depression, having given us so much beauty despite so much suffering. Her poignant reflection on living with the darkness and making art from the barely bearable lightness of being:

Wouldn't you like to be 8 again?

Today, want to be going to a cafe with Leonard and drinking coffee and smoking and talking and writing

But am, instead, taking two 8 year olds to a wave pool.

Received feedback from Cheshire Novel Prize @saranaidinecox.bsky.social and so incredibly detailed and helpful. I was really surprised by how much effort was put into it - 3 pages!

Incredibly helpful to have such good feedback on opening & synopsis as I begin re-drafting.

I'm looking forward to this very much.

We will discuss all volumes published to date but avoid spoilers for 4, which comes out just a few days before.

Plenty of time to start reading if you haven't already. You won't regret it....

Also, next week, I'll be talking about love (again) at beautiful new bookstore, Muswell Books and Parlour.

I've been asked to respond to Romeo and Juliet, so I'm writing about teenage love and how special it is (if you're lucky) and how easily dismissed but potentially transformational 💗
