At the slag heaps at Warton tonight. They are eroding into the sea - Nothing can stop that and that’s awful, but gosh it is beautiful up there. #photo #photography #contemporaryphotography

A great book - A guide to navigating the crisis we are in and those yet to come. I will read and refer back to this again and again. Clear, uncomplicated - telling it like it is, with imaginative thought experiments and tasks to complete on the way - so powerful. #book #booksky

Fancy joining Joseph Earl and myself for a walk (drift!) from Hest Bank to Bolton-le-Sands next Friday 2nd May, 10am-12? We will be thinking, doing, imagining, meeting, communicating, rethinking, reimagining and perhaps even (undoing?) along the way.

In this week’s newsletter, we share a conversation that explores an ongoing effort to gain legal recognition of the Los Cedros cloud forest as co-creator of a song, which if successful, will be a world first. Listen to what true creative reciprocity with the Earth can sound like. buff.ly/SKXbTG9

The groundbreaking autistic-directed film The Stimming Pool celebrates autistic joy, also its creators acknowledge that “It would be impossible to make a film that encapsulates the entire experience, because it is so varied.” Saskia Baron reviews.

‘It’s supposed to be intense’: inside the experimental film that ‘truly captures’ autism
It stars a roaming shapeshifter – and a cat-faced soldier fighting a zombie in a swamp. We go behind the scenes of The Stimming Pool, the first ever feature film to be made by autistic directors

Yesterday, moments after I took this photograph, I heard my first Skylark of the year. It is a wonderful, uplifting experience I acknowledge every year as we move into springtime.

Empire of Normality unfolds the history of the ‘normal mind’ as a product of capitalism and how that has shaped perceptions of neurodiversity, mental health and disability. It is a great book! I wonder how this has also shaped our relationships with/to nature?

The Curlew’s haunting call is fading from our landscapes.

Wetland loss has pushed this wader to the brink, but our conservation efforts are helping them return to key breeding sites.
