It has been painful serving on a toxic Deaf nonprofit board. Makes it all the important to speak up and use these bylaws to strengthen your position. It is easier than to stay silent in my experience. NAD, do it unapologetically. 100% recommend it.

Damn. I teach world history to a bunch of smartass Deaf middle school kids and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

As someone Deaf and half island indigenous (mom is Palauan) with a father from the Catholic and privileged white hearing ppl communities of MD/PA/NJ, I had the honor of teaching my Deaf ms kids US history this fall. I’m probably outing myself as many people know my info but this is important stuff.
