Today, the Supreme Court of the United States gave Donald Trump the power to enforce a cruel policy he implemented earlier this year that blocks transgender and nonbinary people from having passports that reflect who we are. Communication access is a fundamental human right. Excluding deaf people from full communication access is systemic oppression. True equity means recognizing that our languages are essential to participation. ASL access is a collective responsibility rooted in justice and liberation.
