Currently reading #SuicideThursday by @willcarver.bsky.social (well, listening on #BorrowBox 😀)

I'm only a few chapters but in absolutely invested.

I chose it because I currently have too many ideas for my book and can't get past the planning stage; the blurb did its job 📚🤩

Finding out I have @discoveryplus.bsky.social  and so watching back to back #truecrime documentaries is essential research, I promise...

I can just about get away with these Christmas decorations peeking into my last #shelfie of 2025 before they all come down ready for 2026 - the year I intend to write my first novel ✍️ 📖🌟.  Who better to inspire me than #BarbaraVine?

Happy 'I don't know what day it is and I've eaten too much cheese' week 😀

Today's #shelfie involves a hippo guarding one of my favourites; The Secret History by Donna Tartt (slightly well-read copy dating back to the early 90s...) alongside my Thomas Harris collection.

Good combination?

I love receiving whodunnit/crime/book related presents at Christmas 🕵️‍♀️ 🎁

Here's my little crime scene #booknook and #anxietybookshelf hiding a few #AgathaChristie classics from my Mum's original collection

Off to hang up my stocking in anticipation... 🧦

Today, #AnthonyHorowitz and a sneak preview as to what's sitting comfortably next to him on the shelf (coming up tomorrow! 📚)

I particularly love the Daniel Hawthorne series; he has so successfully created this #metafiction that apparently some readers believe they are based on real events... 🤔

In 1982 my primary school teacher suggested that I read a newly published book called 'The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole' by Sue Townsend as he recognised that it would appeal to my sense of humour.

Lesser known (to me, at the time of reading) classic whodunnit trilogy by James Anderson nestling amongst the fake plant and wooden giraffe 🦒🍃🕵️

Michael Crichton and scented candles don't seem to go together, but here we are! 🕯️🦖

Jurassic Park has got to epitomise the phrase 'the book was way better than the film', agreed?

Other favourites are Timeline and Pirate Latitudes 🕰️🏴‍☠️

Small sandstone hippo guarding the precious and well-read Kate Atkinson set (I have her two latest on my to read pile, I am quite behind...) and a few more knocking around somewhere, I must gather them all together for completeness 📚

Nestling behind a cocktail glass (Christmas present from student days) is the sublime set of Alan Bradley gems about the magnificent Flavia De Luce, alongside Mark Gatiss's trilogy about Edwardian secret agent, Lucifer Box.

Haven't revisited these in a while, maybe I'll dust them off again in 2026!

I'm going to go on a little pre (and post) Christmas tour of my bookshelves, starting with my miscellaneous 'biographies by comedians I like' shelf 😍

Bonus points if you recognise where you might have seen this handsome pigeon (minus his santa hat) on your TV screens...

#BackToSchool this week! 📚✏️📆

I posted this a couple of years ago on World Book Day and realise I missed out #ToKillAMockingbird which I was one of my set texts for #GCSE (to long ago to think about 😩😂)

What books did you study and fall in love with?
September 4, 2025 at 10:02 AM
My initial book contained chapters on #AmandaKnox and #JeremyBamber (since developed into books in their own right) but also the #MendendezBrothers, #LizzieBorden, #DarlieRoutier and #JonBenetRamsey

All are controversial cases in their own way.  Any thoughts or opinions?

The @edfringe.bsky.social is over for another year, I hope everyone had a blast! This time 3 years ago we'd just finished our last performance of In Her Defence 🥲

Why not find out more about my characters Catherine and Philip and even check out the script? 👇📖

One of the things I loved most about writing In Her Defence was (very loosely) hiding several #AgathaChristie references within the dialogue 🕵️‍♀️🔎📖

Can you work out what they refer to? 🗝️💭
