The Autobots in IDW and TFP are a concept built on the illusion and hope of an “ideal America” shaped by neoliberalism and neo-hegemonism. In reality, the historical USA is closer to the Decepticons. That is why I previously called this concept a 'failed metaphor'

Readers need to stop flattening everything, idealizing it, defending it, and learn to enjoy complex stories as they are, while also criticizing them and reflecting on ourselves

It is especially strange when USAmericans compare their own country’s corruption to the Autobots. No. What your country has done to other nations over the past several decades are things the Autobots would never do. Things Optimus would never do.

Ikr 😭 and it's precisely bc that grand premise of moral superiority exists that discussions about the bots’ immorality become even more important. I mean, It allows the topic to move beyond a simple moral condemnation of some evil group,
I'm not against morally dubious 'bots but I don't get people who think the 'cons should be the good guys. The basic premise of tf is that the 'cons will exploit planets regardless of intelligent life and the 'bots try to stop em The Autobots will have the moral high ground even if by a single step.
