In a time of mounting pressure on our ocean, New Caledonia's announcement for a 50-year moratorium on deep seabed mining is an important milestone. It strengthens protection of the Coral Sea Natural Park from surface to seabed. I applaud the inspiring leadership, showing progress is possible.

An Ocean of Possibilities workshop began in Dar es Salaam as part of the Regenerative Ocean Week, bringing together the ocean community to envision a sustainable future for the ocean through collaboration and visioning, and shape a collective manifesto for UNOC3 to protect our ocean in the long run.
