Crazy that this post (controversial at the time!) is 10 years old "I know that there is talk of Uber becoming a player in a futuristic world of driverless electric cars, but even if that scenario unfolds, I don't see why Google and Tesla would let Uber have anything more than crumbs off the table"

What's in Trump's bill:
-Adds 4 trillion to the deficit
-Kicks 11 million people off health insurance
-3 million get thrown off food stamps
-Electricity goes up by 30%
-Millions of jobs could disappear
-Wealthiest see $12K a year back
-Poorest people $1600 more a year
What's in the latest version of Trump's big bill now before the Senate
At some 940-pages, the legislation is a sprawling collection of tax breaks, spending cuts and other Republican priorities, including new money for national defense and deportations.

There are only three political positions in America today

1) I like the fascism

2) I'll acquiesce to the fascism (reasons for this one vary: cowardice, access, denial, misguidedly thinking that acquiescence is savvy, etc)

3) I oppose the fascism

The rest is details

If you were too young in 2003 here is what Bush told the American people:

1) The Iraq War won’t cost a lot of money
3) We won’t need a lot of troops
4) We’ll bring peace and freedom to Iraq
5) We’ll find WMDs
6) We’ll be welcomed as liberators
7) It will be easy
8) It won’t take long

All lies.

The disparity btwn what’s actually happening in Los Angeles and the way it’s being mischaracterized is one of the biggest stress tests of modern media in recent memory. Botted socials, AI, old clips, declining literacy—it’s like seeing a broken emergency response system hit by a storm.

Okay, taking this opportunity to write about my experience with LA Metro. I used it basically exclusively to get around for the week and rode on every rail line (including end-to-end on B/D/E & most of A/C) plus a ton of buses

My big complaints were about frequency, speed, & land use near stations
