Disappointing performance/result. Bearing in mind they were also going to rotate, Moyes must have felt our bench players would be too good for them. It will have shown him who can/ can’t step up to the plate. Big missed opportunity but the OTT reactions of some disappointed blues are quite comical!

Yes, defence spending has to rise – but slashing the welfare state to fund it would be a big mistake, say Shahin Vallée of the German Council for Foreign Relations and Joseph de Weck of the Foreign Policy Research Institute

I was a day out…
Whatever short term answer they come up with can’t compromise the long term intent. Expect a sacking on Friday and short term caretaker arrangements (possibly till end of season) in place for Villa game - Baines supported by Coleman?

8/? “He picks them, the buck stops with him…” and I get that but who are the alternatives - Jack Harrison, Nathan Patterson etc. We have all seen their previous performances. Would they have transformed us yesterday? I doubt it. The supporters (and Dyche) have been dealt a terrible hand, we just…

7/? That he sets them up tactically but he doesn’t take the corners and he doesn’t cross waywardly or not cross at all. He is not the winger who fails to take on his full back even once successfully. He is not the midfielder who can’t complete a straightforward 10 yard pass. I get that people will..

6/? Belief we could break down a stubborn Brentford side dissipated. Dyche tried things yesterday in-game. Switching McNeill to the wing and putting Ndiaye in the 10 role. Neither excelled in their starting nor new positions. He put two up top and they got in each others way. I appreciate that…

What is not going to help is the fan base going at each other or the team on match days. Anyone there yesterday could recognise a long-term pattern - really fast start, momentum and a failure to convert that into goals. As the game went on and even against 10 men, the confidence drained and the…

4/? Anyone who thinks our new owners will have the scope to splash the cash in January is in dreamland and they will be further hamstrung by any pay-offs required. The new stadium offers hope but only really in the long term. The next 6 months is going to be a struggle whoever is in charge….

Watching Everton at the moment is not a joyous experience. This is a consequence of cumulative factors over a number of years. Is Dyche the long-term answer from a coaching perspective? Absolutely not. The fact he has less than 12 months on his contract is a function of that being recognised 1/?
