Amazing experience, ca 600 hrs of work, 250 for the final alone. Here one piece I played, recorded last month at home.

Endogenous variability in transcription factor concentrations shapes their genome-wide occupancy
The control of transcription factor (TF) concentrations is crucial for the precise regulation of gene expression and cell fate decisions during development. Yet, TF concentrations can display substant...

If someone you know buys into claims about "genetic optimization" of embryos using polygenic scores of cognition, just send them our 2024 paper on Beethoven & musicality. We wrote it to help communicate limits of individual-level genetic predictions & complexity of links between DNA & behaviour. 🧪👇

Drosophila research without FlyBase would be untenable. Time for all labs who can afford it to step up.
A reminder you/your lab can support FlyBase at Cambridge through the following link. Every bit helps. Please share if you yourself can't donate.

The goal of a PhD is not to learn some facts or read a few papers or learn a bunch of techniques. The goal of a PhD is to learn independence, problem solving, how to finish things you start, resilience, & gain the ability to adapt & think creatively. Learning these things is hard.

My next paper is going to be written like a Choose your own Adventure:

90% of you probably don’t need to read this.
But maybe some of you are curious & 10% will feel seen. Or a little less alone. This isn’t about seeking sympathy.
It’s about sharing something hard to say out loud;
partly to heal, partly in case someone needs to hear it too. (1/3)

How does the adoption of preprinting differ between European countries?
Preprint adoption is significantly higher in Western and Northern European countries than in their Southern and Eastern European neighbors.
