This week I’ll be mostly nourishing my mind with this cultural fodder.

I tend to use music streaming services as a first pass for stuff I might purchase on CD. This recording of the Partitas is exuberant and beautiful!

I’ve tended to avoid stuff like this over the years—contemporary ‘reimagining’ of older music.

I was glad I tried this because it’s beautifully executed. The 16th/17th keyboard repertoire on which this is based is familiar to me, and I was scared he’d butcher it somehow.

I was wrong: it’s so good.
