How many times is too many times to have heard Tim Sherwood say "there's only one winner and that's Spurs" and then know exactly what's coming next?

Bit funny that there are six England players in this and only five Australians, but, at the same time, it does feel like England have been beaten by four players playing exceptionally well and not that much else. Ah well... i actually think it's been quite a good series www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricke...

God, these Spurs players are rubbish. Worst group of players since the 90s
January 7, 2026 at 9:29 PM
Spurs played quite well for an hour in the way that average teams sometimes do, but there is so little accuracy in this team, so many formerly promising players playing without confidence. Almost fascinating ...

Fantastic that Tottenham only look like a team with any flair and attacking intent when their central defender decides to peg it down the middle of the pitch

Very funny that the two English players in FIFA Best XI 2025 are Palmer & Bellingham who've, mainly, been injured, lost their form, not scored many goals in 2025, rather than, say, Declan Rice, or, perish the thought, Harry Kane, who's scored a trifling 60 goals so far.

Nice touch that, on the same night Son has come back to say goodbye to Spurs fans, Ange Postecoglou has been invited back to guest-manage the team for a half

I don't think there's much wrong with England's strategy in these two Ashes tests. It's very hard, this is what's happened all but once in 38 years. They had chances in both these tests, which is more than what usually happens - they just didn't seize those moments. But all the chat about McCullum..

Alastair Cook on commentary saying that Ben Stokes should declare ... as Alastair Cook, of course, would have done in the famous Alball era that revolutionized cricket captaincy

Suppose, by Darren Lehmann's criteria, Joe Root is finally a greater test batter than me. Oh well ...

I've been taking my daughter bowling for a few years on spare days in the holidays, and she just went with her Brownies group, scored 118 and beat all the other kids and adults by miles. If this should be one Earl Woods parenting moment, I'll take it

I bought a Gray Nicholls Elite cricket bat because of Robin Smith. Mine was an absolute plank and I couldn't hit it off the square which made me even more impressed with how unbelievably hard he hit a cricket ball.
His cut was the abiding shot of that era

Remember when I was watching The Real Thing and heard the cricket bat speech, it was as exhilarating, as jump-in-the-air brilliant, as any gig or any comedy show I've ever been to

This feels like a defining performance of superiority by Arsenal, but the great thing about this Champions League format is that it doesn't mean anything, and they'll probably lose in the last 16 to Barcelona or Napoli

Joshua Zirkzee a perfect candidate for the long long line of footballers who will look world class and score 20 goals a season as soon as they leave Manchester United

Spurs against half-decent teams this season are just desperately poor at all aspects of the game. Timid and devoid of ideas.

When Glenn McGrath gloats or criticizes England's cricket, I bow my head in embarrassed recognition before a superior sporting nation. When it's David Warner or Darren Lehmann, I couldn't be more glad not to be an Australian cricket fan

Quite disconcerted by the cycling commentator doing the cricket. Keep on expecting Sean Kelly to pop up saying "I don't think so, no" to every question
