Some bland TV commentary. Some leftist screeds. Probably some podcast recommendations. Honestly, not much else.
I wonder if Steven Miller will even allow him to see the news or if he’ll have someone knock up some fake nationwide election results video to keep up the “most popular president ever” grift he’s been running on this diminished scarecrow.

Watched Final Destination: Bloodlines. I had a lot of fun with it. As of now, I’m equal parts pleased and furious that they explain Tony Todd’s character in the series. But that balance is precarious.

My dad was mostly raised by his grandparents with 1st cousins treated as siblings & more distant relations referred to as cousins regardless of relation. I referred to anyone from actual aunts to 2nd cousins once removed as my aunts. The extent to which this smear is garbage is inexpressible.

Watched Thunderbolts tonight. Was it a *good* exploration of depression and alienation? Not really. Was it a better exploration of those themes than I would have expected from the MCU? Yes. Also, I’d never have expected to describe an MCU sequence as “Gondry-esque.” Overall, I really enjoyed it.

Went to a club to see one of my favorite DJ’s from my raver era (a quarter century in the rear view at this point). DJ Dan can still fully rock a set.

Listening to the newest @jordanjessego.bsky.social bonus episode tonight, they mentioned Bob Clendenin in passing. I couldn’t place where I knew that name from. He’s the man who eats the old banana from Paul Blart 2 that so delights the #tildeathdousblart boiz every Thanksgiving.

I have no real opinions on baseball, but I support Toronto winning the next 4 MLB and NBA championships and only Canadian teams winning the next four Stanley Cups. I wish there was a Canadian NFL team to win the next four super bowls. America simply doesn’t deserve victories until further notice.

I don’t want my bsky to be as #broncos -heavy as my fb was, but in 41 years attending games, I’ve never seen one as wild as today’s game. The Giants’ fans were absolutely delightful. Unfailingly polite, even when they had every right to be very smug. Then they handled a bonkers defeat with class.

I just found out about it this week, but I’ve been burning through the limited backlog of the #rephrasing Archer rewatch podcast. It’s genuinely delightful. So excited that they’ve joined @maximumfun.org so that I can add them to list of shows I support.

It is profoundly rude of this Colorado Sunday night to continue dumping rain when I need my dogs to go potty before putting them to bed.

Joining the chorus of people who finally got around to Superman now that it’s streaming… It’s very good! Nicholas Hoult’s Tom Cruise impression was chillingly accurate.

Listened to this week’s @jordanjessego.bsky.social today. It was a total delight! @joshgondelman.bsky.social is at or very near the top of the list of “guaranteed home run every time”podcast guests.

It’s not a novel point, but if people who actually live the spirit of the teachings of Jesus are the only candidates for being Raptured, that’s a non overlapping Venn diagram with people who believe they would be Raptured.

I’ve never been a big horror fan, and I’ve never before really understood horror as an escapist medium, but #MagnusArchives, #MagnusProtocol, @thewhitevault.bsky.social, #VastHorizon and @oldgodspod.bsky.social have been a huge asset to my mental health this year.

Up to S4E6 on my Stranger Things rewatch. There’s an “Unless…”, “Unless?” in there that I’ve never consciously noticed. What do we think? #MBMBAM wink? #Hamilton (and thereby MBMBAM) wink or total coincidence?

I won’t ever watch Adolescence, but I’ve never been more grateful for the hyper-queer, unfailingly kind, 80s New Wave encyclopedia algorithm that my kid forged for themselves. Things could have broken really bad for a kid born in 2003, but their choices led them to a place of tolerance & enthusiasm.

After one of the most infuriating and intentionally gaslighty weeks in the astoundingly infuriating and gaslighty last decade of American politics. I’m intentionally offloading all of that for a night. Wine drunk, about to watch an old Futurama episode and hopefully stay awake for all of it.

I always forget about the flesh mind flayer in S3 of Stranger Things in the miasma of other things I don’t really like about that season, but I really don’t like looking at that.

I hope that Newsom keeps driving the current administration bonkers for the next couple years, but I also hope he’s, I dunno, devoured by a very large bird or something before the primary season really kicks off. He’s very good at pissing these people off. But the idea of him as a candidate is awful

I don’t have a strong relationship with Star Trek (other than Lower Decks) but I have a very strong relationship with @greatesttrek.com. I’ve listened to every episode of Greatest Gen, and a smattering of Greatest Trek. Ben and Adam are hilarious and the FoD’s are a wonderful community. #startrekday

I just went to a Japanese Breakfast concert. I would have bet money that I found out about that band from the podcast Wonderful!, but there’s no evidence of that. @griffinmcelroy.bsky.social, you’ve brought them to the show right? Shockingly, googling wonderful Japanese breakfast has been unhelpful.

There may be songs that pack a bigger emotional punch than Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper, but in my life, I don’t think there’s another song that has made me cry more times than it has.

I usually take a couple episodes to warm up to the new cast, but I’m already fully on board with the new bakers. Seems like a fun group, very skilled. I sure hated the format of the technical, though. #gbbo

Rewatching Stranger Things before the final season. While the Kali storyline doesn’t work and was abandoned as a blind alley, I really liked the idea that the kids in Hawkins had different powersets. I had a pet theory back in 2017 that the kids’ powers would map onto the D&D schools of magic.

When it happens, remember that he’s the figurehead of the problem. Not the problem itself. Continue fighting. Celebrate, appreciate and enjoy… but continue fighting.
