Song Sung Blue (2h12m)

Touching and bittersweet true story adapted into a well-structured script, despite a few occasional lags in pacing.
Hugh Jackman predictably shines and Kate Hudson also gives a memorable and intense performance.

Hedda (1h47m)

Overrated Ibsen play adapted into a unconvincing film rife with convoluted narrative setups and characters with needlessly obscure agendas.
The haphazard direction and a struggling cast complete the mess.

Anaconda (1h39m)

Bonkers meta concept that delivers enough funny moments to entertain, despite a movie with limited drive.
But add a cast with great comedic instincts, and a love letter to independent filmmakers, and you end up with a very enjoyable film.

The Gorge (2h07m)

Great concept that becomes a bit blunt in its second action-packed half.
The character work is however clever and original, giving the film an enjoyable tone that sets it ahead of most action horror films.

Our Times (1h30m)

The film has an interesting feminist angle to its time travel story. It’s unfortunately both a bit too tame and in your face to be really engaging.
The story does however recover in its touching final act.

The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants (1h28m)

Not as wild and densely packed with laughs as its forerunners, the movie is still crazy enough to entertain audiences of all ages.

The Housemaid (2h11m)

Original plot whose foreshadowing delivers some clever twists.
Sweeney is a very good lead but Seyfried steals the show with a wide-ranging and unhinged performance.

Plur1bus

Apple TV - 1 season (ongoing), 9 episodes, 50 minutes each

Fantastic concept developed into a highly enjoyable show thanks to its very original off-kilter approach.
Rhea Seehorn gives the performance of a lifetime.

Fly Me to the Moon (2h12m)

Highly fictional but very fun. Johansson and Tatum have great chemistry and the film strikes a uniquely blend of comedy, romance and space exploration; depicting the Apollo program very vividly.

Avatar: Fire and Ash (3h17m)

Lacking creativity across all areas and plagued by its excessive runtime, the film contents itself with cheaply rehashing its two previous installments and fails to take the story in any meaningful direction.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (2h24m)

Better than the first but not as jubilantly topical as the second, the film remains entertaining throughout, thanks to a stellar cast and sharp direction.

Eternity (1h54m)

Excellent concept developed into a perfect script blending comedy, emotion and a deeper existential thread. Great cast, efficient direction, resulting in something we almost didn't know we were missing: a truly heartwarming romantic movie.

The Electric State (2h05m)

Not a great film but the original world-building translates well to some stunning visuals and the production is, on all levels, impeccable.
A very solid piece of entertainment.

Relay (1h52m)

Fantastic script: clever, intense and original with an excellent balance of twists and personal stakes.
David Mackenzie’s razor-sharp direction does wonders as do the top-end performances of all three leads.
This year’s hidden gem.

Jay Kelly (2h12m)

Baumbach’s direction is inspired and clever, Clooney’s performance impeccable.
But the story doesn’t have much to offer that’s either original or relatable and ends up more indulgent than anything.

The Thursday Murder Club (1h58m)

Original set of characters and a stellar cast picked to bring them to life.
But the film overall is desperately lukewarm, a cheap brand of comfortable with little to excite you.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 (1h44m)

The first movie had its moments but though this sequel still has some of wild visuals, the script is a mess where painfully dumb characters plod through nonsensical plot points strung along by tired clichés.
