I'm a musician who likes his boomer bends, reminding you that before a piece of music can become a cliche, it usually has to be good. It's the simple things in life that make it good. Which actually works out, because I have nothing!!
Social media should come with a warning label. When we talk about our lives, like "this is what I've done in my life" etc what we're really talking about is our time. This is what I've done with the time I've had on earth. Facebook is taking that time. The only time we get. Deliberately addictive.

Central Maine Powers New England clean energy connect corridor, was voted down by new hampshire, vermont, and Maine in statewide votes. The people struck it down every time. They sued in Maine saying they were too far along in construction to stop. So they had to do it. They won.

I worry that I won't be able to stay away from Facebook after deactivating my account. The fact that I chose deactivation rather than deletion, is a sign right there that I'm worried about permanently walking away. But I want my life back. There have been days recently where I spent 4-5 hours there.

I went ahead and deactivated my Facebook account. Facebook's new update which they call "minimal choice interface" REALLY. It removes user comment filtering settings. Facebook will now filter comments on what they consider most quality, relevant, and least offensive. Everything else is hidden.

It would be great to see a mass exodus from Facebook to Bluesky. In the wake of recent changes to comment filtering, which aim to reduce debate on Facebook, but will result from billions of comments being censored out of existence, I don't see how I can continue to participate on that platform.
