There really is a potential demographic problem but there isnt going to be any progress in solving it or even rationally discussing it until people come to terms with the fact that living in a country ruled by a plutocratic demented NAZI cult is for most people a disincentive to have kids.

I knew Putin was no genius but i thought even he would be smart enough to figure out how to tell Trump "yeah I kind of like you too" Trump really really really isnt asking for much, a trivial token of respect is all, or even just tone down the public domination just a little. So sad.

People thought that after the invention of nuclear weapons that people wouldnt be smart enough to figure out how to fight without destroying themselves and would have to give up fighting. Oh ye of little faith.

I think Iran probably wont seriously escalate, they obviously will be more determined than ever to get nukes when they can but for now they will hunker down and concentrate on building up their defenses. Luckily for them Trump is too stupid to negotiate in ways that put them on the spot.

I always try to look on the bright side of things due to my naturally sunny disposition and contemplating the mental state of of oil drinking, coal rolling, ev hating trump cultists as they are filling up their gas tanks in the next few months or years is bright shaft of sunshine.

Things really do change in ways that matter. If in 2004 you had told people that a right wing president beloved by evangelicals would have a Treasury secretary who was gay married and that not a single right winger ever said a word about it publicly no one would have believed you.

Trump never admits he is wrong or that he has changed his mind but the fact that he is allowing Republicans in the seate to reject one of his nominees without attacking them for doing so is a HUGE change in the political situation.

In 1950 the US was 50% of the world economy and 50% of the worlds industrial production, it is still 25% of the worlds economy but only 10% of it's industrial production. This relative difference makes a lot of difference in understanding what the US can and cannot make the rest of the world do.

Everyone should remember that recessions in the modern era caused by right wing stupidty are not unique to Trump. The 2008 financial crash which started in the US and spread worldwide was ENTIRELY due to Republican deregulation of financial institutions.

People really shouldnt use the term Commander in Chief in a non military context, it erroneously implies that the President has the legal authority to issue something like orders to the country as a whole and he doesnt.

I don think that the Trump cult cant survive as a coherent political force without Trump, there is nothing there but shared resentment and stupidity between the leader and the followers so there isnt anything that anyone who doesnt have Trump's personality can pick up and run with.

Literally YEARS if foreplay and teasing about how Palin was going to show the New York times and it is all over literally before anyone has time to even register that the experience is happening. Talk about a small payoff for the effort expended.
