It’s such a shame to see Ruben Selles leave. He has done the most remarkable job in the most difficult circumstances. Impossible to blame him though, biggest surprise is that he has stayed this long. Wish him nothing but good things.

Such desperately sad news about Terry Griffiths. A fine player, and an underrated one. Could so easily have won more than one World Title. I was fortunate to meet him once, and he was kind, generous and very very funny. Lovely man. He’ll be much missed.

Felt sorry for Dynamo Kiev last night. Never a good emotion during a commentary. That’s now 5 UEL defs out of 5, and they were poor, although they’re doing well just to be playing of course. Desperate. Makes me think wistfully of that amazing 99 side, one of my favourite ever football teams.

The most heartbreaking allegations surrounding the Tash Harding Academy are the stories of children who were enrolled to help with self confidence and self esteem, just what sport should be doing. I hope clubs and academies can step in and offer those children affected the sessions that they need.

Went on the BBC World Service yesterday to discuss Italy v France, and was introduced as “veteran Commentator Dave Farrar”.

Veteran. Like a dagger through the heart. 👨‍🦳
