history friends, Walsall Leather Museum is at risk. Being the granddaughter of a Walsall leather worker, this breaks my heart. Intangible cultural heritage is hard to define, therefore very easy to destroy. We can’t see another heritage site disappear. Please sign;

Tucked away in a corner on the 2nd level of the Kelvingrove Museum, Glasgow, is this simply stunning model solar system. Built by a man with no formal astronomical or mathematical education but fascinated none the less, he hand cut every gear. It still works, and they wind it up once a year or so.

2 pics of the Moon tonight. The second is way over-exposed but it does show there's a little loop sticking out at the upper left-hand side . This is the Golden Handle. Only visible for a few hours each month as sunlight shines on mountains and the crater floor inside the loop is in shadow.

The Golden Lion, Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham. Dating back to the 16th century. Conservation work started 2024 by Birmingham Conservation Trust.
