Investment in renewables means you need an equal investment in gas in order to meet demand when the renewables aren't delivering. That's obvious isn't it?

We seem to be detecting many planets around distant stars these days by observing a drop in radiation levels as the planet crosses the star. Can anyone explain to me how we can do this if the orbital plane of the distant system does not intersect the earth?

Why is it that climate scientists clock up more air miles than any other type of scientist. I suppose its one rule for them and a different one for us?

Today's DAC question. How many centuries would it take for a 10km long, 10m high DAC operating at 100% efficiency with constant perpendicular wind speed of 10m/s to remove 1% of atmospheric co2 Is 16 centuries. 3 points for any answer between 15 and 17 centuries!

Does anyone know why people who work in the private sector have to contribute to the pensions of people who work in the public sector? They have more generous pensions anyway!

It's a good thing that the visible spectrum is so narrow. Otherwise the climate scientists would be colouring in their charts well into the infrared and microwave regions.

Parenthood is like taking a job with infinite responsibility when you have no experience. Being terrified is to be expected.

Today January 1 is the warmest day of the year so far. I guess that's climate change for you

People who are born with a sense of entitlement become disillusioned with life, which leads to resentment, envy, and eventually anger. At that point, they've become a socialist.

Today's DAC question. If you can design, build and operate a DAC at a cost of 1cent per trillion molecules of co2 extracted. Then what multiple of the total US gold reserves would you need to spend to reduce atmospheric co2 by 1%?

Pythagoras and complex number theory. Everyone knows 3,4,5 for a right angled triangle. But if the sides are 5 and 4i then the hypotenuse is 3 and if the sides are 5i and 4 then hypotenuse is 3i. Amazing, apologies if you're not a maths geek.

It seems odd to me that none has ever produced a serious scientific paper with a null hypothesis that co2 emissions from fossil fuels are a direct cause of climate change.

Leaves extract co2 from the air and create long chain molecules using energy from the sun. Why can't we genetically engineer an organism to do this to mop up excess co2 from the atmosphere?

Yesterday I met a man who had an intellect 100x bigger than mine, he said to me, is there anything you want to ask me. I thought for a while and said yes, if you met a man with an intellect 100x yours what question would you ask him? He smiled and walked away.
