I wrote this story in a mood during summer. The heat, the crowds, the emotional stuff that happens when we feel caged & then autumn comes along & changes everything.

So happy to be published with Underbelly Press. Here it is.

Just finished writing a chapter, the birds are out, the sun is shining and the sky is blue. Actually blue.

Sniggering at your desk while trying to be quiet at 6am. That’s the joy.

Great dark gates and a tidal wave,
Gave you that pill that took you out,
They didn’t tell,
Perhaps they didn’t know,
Walking blindly into that show.

It’s surreal how you can be walking in a desolate place with a somewhat heavy mind, and then you come across someone in the middle of nowhere who tells you that they’re happy to talk to you. Kudos to that lovely stranger.

January. Two road trips, endless rain, and a new story written. It didn’t leave its mark in terms of getting out there, but the weekends were quiet, the van brought the views, and even when the weather app became shit, we took our wins when they came.

A small window clear of rain = go for a gravel ride adventure.

Much needed mind break.

When you stop for a moment and realise you’re actually joking your way through what were actually quite stressful experiences because you have that face that does that. That’s when you know that the next few days need to be spent outdoors and switched off, whatever the weather.
