Hi. I'm Elke and new here! Been on social media way too long, lol. I'm enjoying what I'm seeing here and am glad to have a safe space.
Have some cat tax photos
Since it is now Christmas music time in my car, I'm going to share my favorite bit about Bruce Springsteen's Santa Claus is Coming to Town. It's at the end when Bruce is trying not to lose it because of Clarence's ho ho hos.

(2/2) I'm not seeing the issue. But again, I grew up in a world where lip syncing, or at the very least having pre-recorded audio, was more the "norm".

Hey @cmolanphy.bsky.social! So as someone who grew up in a post Milli Vanilli world, I never understood the scandal, lol. Like was it that they were crediting Rob and Fab for doing the work, when they were just the face? Because if they credited the band and then the guys were just the faces.. (1/2)

I will always be grateful to my high school best friend's boyfriend who sat me down and made me listen to Fearless... Because Taylor has gotten me through a LOT since I was in high school. (Including my lab partner in Bio who was CONVINCED he was gonna marry her.)

@cmolanphy.bsky.social as someone who thought they were "too cool" to listen to T-Swift when she came out in the 00s (I wasn't, but I digress) ... This episode was great. It's also fun listening to it in 2025, knowing all the cool stuff she's done since the #hitparadepod episode dropped

I wish I had known about the #hitparadepod before cuz the 45th ep came out on my bday lol
April 13, 2025 at 3:58 AM
Okay @cmolanphy.bsky.social this one has a question. I'm aware you couldn't cover EVERY cover of A Change Is Gonna Come, but my current favorite is by Seal from his Soul album (I love the whole album honestly). What do you think of it, or the album in general?

@cmolanphy.bsky.social I can't tell you how excited I am to listen to the Sam Cooke episode of the #hitparadepod. My dad taught me well when he got me hooked on Sam, lol. He was the reason I drifted to being a tenor in choir and he's still one of my all time fave singers.

@cmolanphy.bsky.social listening to your ACDC rule episode is fun, knowing that they're currently playing in Minneapolis right now and I have a friend there and I am SO jealous lol.

Am I the only one reading White House tweets in Bane’s voice in my head?

@cmolanphy.bsky.social okay. We finally got the Van Halen bit. Cuz as someone who disappointed both their parents by buying 1984 on vinyl at a garage sale, I couldn't believe that album didn't hit #1. (I may have forgotten the timing with Thriller)

@cmolanphy.bsky.social I'm taking An Innocent Man to my special island lol. The Stranger is a great album though. Also, Don't Look Back is hands down my fave Boston song. (And I found them with little help from my boomer parents lol)

@cmolanphy.bsky.social I think I'm reaching the halfway point of the #hitparadepod. We've entered 2021! Also, two hours of Chic flew by and you honestly could've fed me more and I would've taken it happily.

@cmolanphy.bsky.social wait. Who was calling Duran Duran a rock band???
April 6, 2025 at 6:50 PM
@cmolanphy.bsky.social well this feels like an awkward time to mention one of my favorite movies is the 93 Three Musketeers (more for Kiefer Sutherland than the music lol). But. I will scream All for Love at the top of my lungs every chance I get. 🤣

And I'm glad Nevermind was as big a smash for the 90s as it was for me when I discovered it a solid decade later.

@cmolanphy.bsky.social as a fan of the pop chart bday song game, I'm sorry I looked up the alternatives lol. 🤣 I'm keeping Ace of Base, cuz R. Kelly is apparently up there as an option, and just no thank you. I'm still surprised it wasn't Nirvana since I was born the same week Kurt died.

This #hitparadepod about country/pop crossovers leading up to the GOAT Garth Brooks is pretty 🔥🔥🔥 @cmolanphy.bsky.social (I'm enjoying listening to my childhood in country very much).
April 2, 2025 at 2:51 AM
@cmolanphy.bsky.social as someone who DOES know Chris Gaines, I can NOT believe he hit the charts that high lol. (He might be a guilty pleasure) #hitparadepod

I need to add I wrote this in the middle of the episode lol. You basically answered it later

Bill Withers was a 32 year-old Navy vet, working at a factory making parts for airplanes, when Booker T. was assigned to produced his first hit — and won him a Grammy.

“I wasn't going to do [the ‘I know-I know’ lyric], he said, “but Booker T. said, 'No, leave it.”

Gone five years ago today. #RIP

But I also realize as someone raised by a Deadhead, my frame of reference is skewed, lol. But I could easily make a greatest hits out of their repertoire... So I guess would that quality be why we don't consider them a one hit wonder? (Same goes for Jimi)

@cmolanphy.bsky.social first off Rude was a bop. Needed to get on that off my chest lol. Second. Is there a term for songs that have a cult classic quality? Like for example, when you were talking about the Dead, I had an instant moment of no way they didn't have more hits.

Also, tell Kevin I loved his choices in music!
