A bit of the right finish makes all the difference

It took a lot of tests before I found the right time/temp to use my new branding iron, but I'm thrilled with how clean it's looking!

While it's not something I made to sell, this is one of the projects I worked on last week, using iron acetate as a stain. There are a few woods that react well with iron acetate, but white oak is one of my favorites because of how the grain can still manage to show a contrast even as it darkens.

Dice cups are one of my favorite projects I make, and it's even more fun when I get a request for something customized. I had to work more carefully with this one since the walls are only 1/8" thick, but it was worth it—this turned out beautifully!

Kicking up sawdust again for a recent order of cap hangers!

I try to keep a few 6.5" face plates partially prepped for each wood I use, but sometimes a narrower cap hanger is needed. It was the perfect opportunity to get some more stock, and even unfinished, I love the grain pattern on this Maple!

Hopefully, I'll be adding things like this to the shop at some point, but for now, I'm just having fun turning an assortment of woods into small bowls on the lathe.

Waiting before I buff the oil/wax on these ones that I just finished turning on the lathe, and they're already looking great—great grain patterns in every piece.

Seeing these, I can't wait to use the even-more-figured pieces of the stock I recently picked up!
