I got through the 1st chapter of the 1619 project book and couldn't get through any more. I see why mainstream liberals have praised it. IMO it's a framing of Black history that very easily situates Black folks into the current U.S. settler-state and funnels us into democratic party politics.

I went to the local library and saw 1619 project on the shelf, and on a whim decided to borrow it and give it a whirl. I've been consuming more politically left content in the last few years, but I am curious as to how Black historical and political themes are handled in a mainstream NYT container

Ok Bluesky, I'm liking it so far! I feel like I did in the early 2010s when I first joined Twitter. I learned so much and grew politically and analytically through that space in 2013-2020. Sucks the capitalist vultures gutted it. We'll see what's in store here.
