My 20-month-old daughter started crying upstairs last night at the exact moment Dylan went electric in A Complete Unknown. The pain passes through the generations.

The National’s Alligator is 20.

It's my favourite record of all time, one I always come back to. A defining moment where everything about the band seemed to crystallise. And it has so many quotable lines. I tried to explain all of that for @clashmusic.com.

I wrote a lot of words on my favourite album of all time
"We're the heirs to the glimmering world..."

The National's 'Alligator' turns 20 - a complicated, conflicted, and compelling album.

Buckle up friends, the next wave of acts for #EOTR2025 is here. We’ve got blistering riffs, dancefloor electronica, genre-pushing visionaries, blissed-out experimentalists and folk legends.

Viagra Boys, The National, DIIV, Katy J Pearson, Sofia Kourtesis + many more.

Clearing through my old room and just found an autograph book I had. The only two autographs in there are Alec Stewart and Keith Chegwin.

UK WRITERS: You need to fill in this consulation. Govt is very clearly looking to an opt-out model of rights licensing that puts all the burden on creators instead of profiteers. It's long and boring but this is important.

This, basically
oh my actual god - imagine if you had a live set where you could play all the tracks from Brat, and then bring on Caroline Polachek for a guest number, and then Robyn to do your collaborative track plus a performance of Dancing On My Own, I mean you'd pretty much have it all sewn up wouldn't you ❤️❤️
On my way to see Charli XCX no YOU’RE excited. (I’m beside myself)

The Charli show last night was something else. AND Robyn did Dancing On My Own. Incredible.

I reviewed the new Warmduscher album for the Quietus
'The band have always weaved elements of hip-hop and jazz into their messed-up punk-funk but here they’ve refined it and pushed it forward, drafting in the voices of #IrvineWelsh, Lianne La Havas and Jeshi'
