Sommi had his 4th transfusion today, multiple cool sponge baths to help his fever, and a lovely cuddle. Not sure how much longer his body can fight this horrible Leukemia virus though

We continue treating the symptoms of this leukemia virus. Last night he was happy and energetic but today he had a high fever so he had a cool sponge bath, moved him into the a/c and he wanted a cuddle. By this evening he was feeling better and wanted a walk outside

Little guy has lost a lot of weight but still enjoys his afternoon walks when he has energy

This hospital wouldn’t let me sit with Sommi during the transfusion and he didn’t want to be alone in the cage. He demanded a lap to rest on during and after the transfusion and a staff member provided 😻😻😻

On the left is Nong Danny, who is waiting for a cross match and to donate blood to Sommi (on the right). Fingers crossed 🤞 for a good cross match because Nong Danny is big and strong (~7kg) and Sommi is getting quite weak

Started this guy on a new drug last night that has had success in some small studies with FeLV cats. Unfortunately it requires an injection every 12 hours for about two weeks 🙀

Doc says he’ll likely need weekly transfusions to keep his red blood cell and platelets up; back for more blood on Saturday

Update sent from hospital: Sommi getting his transfusion. They are keeping him under observation until early evening (blood results this morning showed lower red blood cells and lower platelets so hopefully the transfusion helps). I'll head back to get him soon

Little guy was not happy as gf wasn’t here to hold him in the car. He kept yelling until he settled on my lap; now at the vet and cross checking his blood with donor cats (cute temple on the soi behind)

Home after a checkup and ultrasound. Sommi has anemia that was likely brought on by his leukemia. Some injections and extra meds and back in two weeks time
