Inspired by @arquipelago.org I printed and bound some PDFs I've been wanting to have around for reference. I used this video to learn the saddle stitch. youtu.be/aWHkY5jOoqM

I'm trying to get more comfortable with C. @b0rk.jvns.ca's Memory Spy tool has really strengthened my intuition for the bits behind the variables.

The best part of trick-or-treating last night was seeing people out in the neighborhood being social and supportive. It's humanity's forte.
I feel like I say this every year but I really need people to hear it. Halloween is the best American holiday. Just kids outside welcomed into their world, marching around together, showing off their costumes to the elderly, parents meeting parents, neighbors catching up with neighbors.

Wikipedia is hands down the very best of the internet. This is a great interview with co-founder Jimmy Wales

Forget carrier pigeons, we need to create a starling modem.
New doc releases today!

Cleaning is fun when you find the right solvent. I just cleaned this duct tape off with gasoline. It came off in minutes.

As long as it "smells like a computer," I think we've got it 🕺. Please ask me questions about Folk. I love sharing it.
Thank you to everyone who came to our last Localhost talk with @cwervo.bsky.social and @omar.website!‬

They presented on @folkcomputer.bsky.social and unveiled the Folk Gadget! Together we escaped the screen and entered the realm of light and paper-based computing.

I love that python's uv can read dependencies out of metadata in a single script. Thank you PEP 723. That means people can reliably run a single file I send, even if it requires other libraries.
See this in action in this quick script an LLM mostly wrote for me: github.com/ppkn/rss_dow...

I made a @val.town because the IRS doesn't want to send me a notification about 501c3 approval. It checks every couple of hours and sends an email when the org finally shows up in search.

This feels fundamentally different to a chat interface. The context is always available to be edited and tweaked. There is no distinction between user-input and machine-output.

Heartbreaking news. I have loved Polygon's work over the years. Sad to see it go.
14 years ago I pitched what would become Polygon to a startup called Sports Blogs Inc on the unfurnished third floor of a DC townhome. I held a laptop on my knees and went through a deck.

Today that same company -- now called Vox Media -- sold Polygon to Valnet.
