What’s fun about this is that the President doesn’t control funding, that’s Congress and there’s this thing in the constitution about Congress not being able to make laws that control speech, one of the amendments?

Not so much any more, but when I started as a journalism academic, it was common for faculty to tell first year newswriting students, "Lose the adjectives." That was considered a virtue and a brilliant way to teach it.

Fundamentally, it’s a total journalistic failure to treat the statements of a mostly dishonest person exactly the same as the statements of a mostly honest one. Isn’t that just basic reporting skills to know the difference???
