I made a starter pack for the modern emo scene so people can find each other on DIYsky.

Let me know if there's anyone I should add!

My favorite song of the year so far. The perfect modern folk song. Excellent songwriting and structure, stellar playing, clever lyrics, and wonderful production courtesy of Philip Weinrobe. I can't stop replaying it.

I still have A LOT to listen to, but these are my favorite emo releases of the year so far.

I’m a simple man: I see a Dalton rec, and I hit play. Bonus points for a Harlan Ellison reference. This rips my face clean off.
Holy shit.

Two coworkers of mine have been arguing politics for the past two hours, and I'm almost at the point of splattering my brains on the wall if I have to hear another second.

That new Pokémon demo looks really promising. I can't wait for them to drop the actual game after another year or two of development.

If I had a genie, I'd wish for Game Freak to be turned into a living person, and then I'd beat that person to death with hammers.

Listening to a midwest emo record I found through reels, and it's a premier example of why mixing is so important.

Every song here wants to be dynamic, but it all falls flat. It's the sonic equivalent to a wet paper towel. It sounds as if it were recorded inside a ziploc bag.

"I Killed Barbie" is probably the best emo song of the year, but now you can't even listen to it without going out of your way to find live clips or reuploads. The band took it down as a precaution because of this administration's threats against trans people. I hate this fucking country.

Woke up early for work expecting to feel better after this cold's been kicking my ass for days. Still feel terrible. As much as I dislike the idea of having it, I'm gonna have to get a covid test today.

More than 1800 detainees are missing after the closure of Alligator Alcatraz. Their families and lawyers can’t find them and they’ve vanished from the ICE database. Feels like this should be a much bigger story www.miamiherald.com/news/local/i...
Hundreds of Alligator Alcatraz detainees drop off the grid after leaving site
As of the end of August, the whereabouts of two-thirds of more than 1,800 men detained at Alligator Alcatraz during the month of July could not be determined by the Miami Herald.

Sarah Morgan deserves her flowers now, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's some retrospective appreciation for her work 10 years down the line—probably with some clickbait title along the lines of: 'The Best Bedroom Pop Artist You've Never Heard 🤯'

But seriously, listen to elizabeth whitington.

Israel's pager attacks were one year ago today. This piece by Jake Romm still resonates, particularly after Trump's "designation" of "antifa" as a "domestic terror organization."
"To have been harmed by the pager attack means that one is a terrorist, because the attack was directed against terrorists. This is the logic of genocide: we have marked all terrorists for death, a status only we can impose or remove, and thus your death will always serve as its own justification."

Crazy that a decade ago, we were arguing about the implications of electing a blatantly monstrous reality show star. Here we are ten years later with our pants around our ankles.

This escalation was inevitable regardless, but it feels as if it's really sped up recently. Maybe Trump really is sick and dying. Not that his death would stop anything at this point, but it's some silver lining.
