‼️ New #jwst image alert ‼️ This gorgeous new view of the Sombrero galaxy shows that unlike in the visible-light images, the brightly glowing core of the galaxy doesn't shine, but we see instead a smooth inner disk, & we can see new details of the outer ring. More: science.nasa.gov/missions/web...

An additional effect that is not visualized here is "tidal lag" where these bulges should be rotated slightly forward in the direction of Earth's rotation. Because Earth is spinning, the tidal waves are also dragged along on the surface

A CME from a M3.7 flair on Monday hit Earth yesterday evening. This created aurora that could be seen in central Europe
