This is the exciting paper drop. New aDNA science out of Dublin.

Matrilineal descent systems demonstrated for Late Iron Age Dorset.

Building on the work of Mel Giles (2012) who first spotted the potential for it in the archaeology of Middle Iron Age Yorkshire.

This needs to be taken very seriously. All donations that originate from abroad, no matter who is the final donor, should be banned. Only UK citizens should be allowed to donate to British political organisations

THIS. This always baffles me. It's also worth noting that Irish media is SO BEHIND when it comes to effective game reporting. I remember pitching great stories over the years of strong Irish successes in gaming and the response was always: 'It's too niche'.
REPORT: Over the last eight months I've been trying to get to the bottom of why (despite being the ideal candidate) Ireland is not a video game development hub. The answer?

A lack of government understanding surrounding the sector.

For Shacknews:

Ireland is primed to be a video game development hub, so why hasn't it broken big?
Ireland is home to a well-educated, English-speaking, diverse workforce and is already the tech hub of Europe. So why hasn't it truly penetrated the video game industry?

This is the same Verona Murphy who has had to issue statements saying ‘I’m not racist’ after serial racist dog whistling?

Extreme right failed badly in recent irish general election. For shame that FF and FG now giving their politics a leg up.
If Verona Murphy is elected Ceann Comhairle today, it will mark a significant step forward in forming a new government, writes Mícheál Lehane.
Die looks to be cast as party leaders back Murphy

‘A family member of the suspect contacted gardai hours after Thursday’s attack to tell them he had been a normal man until he suffered a brain tumour two years ago.’

Can this be reported as widely as the ‘legitimate concerns’ about Dublin’s far right riots?
