Just a regular person who likes to learn about different things - science, art, music, nature, books, history, interesting places, some politics, and more. I don't miss Twitter.
Excellent article about Silicon Valley moguls who envision themselves as heroes in an Ayn Rand novel -- a much-needed examination of her philosophy that these misguided zillionaires espouse. What they are doing is not "rational self-interest" www.thebulwark.com/p/elon-musk-...
Elon Musk Thinks He’s an Ayn Rand Hero. Nope: He’s One of Her Villains.
Recent years have revealed the Silicon Valley venture capitalists and tech entrepreneurs who worship Rand to be racists, fraudsters, and looters.

I just moved completely to the Duck Duck Go browser.
It is so much quieter and calmer than Edge or Chrome.
And I need that.

I have a question: should regular people file their taxes early, like now, while there are still staff members and computer systems to process them? If we wait the IRS might be shut down.

Of course Elon wouldn't know because he never pays taxes....

We need a Jack Ryan, like now!

Will having Musk or someone else purchase Tik Tok actually stop the nefarious spying/influencing that is being done? Somehow I don't think so...

Something I have wondered about -- When businesses ask you to round up your bill for some charity, do they then make the donation and then also take a tax write-off for the donation made by their customers? Deeply suspicious of these "round up" requests...

Shrinkflation has ruined recipes. Recipe calls for 16 oz of ricotta cheese or some other ingredient, but now it's 15 oz. Do I adjust all other ingredients to be 1/16 less? Or do I buy a 2nd container to get my 16 oz, but then have 14 oz that I don't need? This is a real issue that has been ignored.

It's interesting being on Blue sky... First there's not the constant disruption of ads and MAGA. And even though I'm not interested in everything that shows up, I can see what People are talking about, which is kind of interesting.

On Bluesky I'm having little interactions - funny, interesting, etc.-- and I realized that on Twitter, that hadn't happened for a long time. I knew Twitter was bombarding us with ads, bots, and MAGA, and I didn't realize how much Elon was throttling just regular small interactions.

Congratulations to you. And, this doesn't happen as quickly or easily for women...
