Imagine a southeastern-facing hillside in Southeast Washington erupting in a riot of sunshine yellow! It's a truly spectacular sight, with countless arrowleaf balsamroot flowers creating a dense carpet of color across the rolling terrain. The bright yellow of the blooms pops beautifully against the backdrop of the clear blue sky and a few scattered white clouds. You can almost feel the warmth of the sun and the gentle breeze rustling through the wildflowers. This is springtime in the PNW at its finest! ☀️💛 #WashingtonState #WildflowerWonder #SpringBlooms

Title: Fragrant Evening Primrose (Oenothera caespitosa)
The image shows a close-up of a fragrant evening primrose with several large white flowers. The flowers have four petals that are rounded at the tips and slightly notched at the base. In the center of each flower, there is a cluster of yellow stamens and a green pistil. The leaves of the plant are long and narrow with a slightly toothed edge. They have a silvery-green color and are covered in fine hairs. The plant appears to be growing in a rocky or sandy area.
Sweet citrus scented bloomy goodness! Deliciously huge, 4" wide flowers appear en masse spring through early summer. Blooms open late in the afternoon, until morning, attracting night owl pollinators like moths. Petals age to pink over time. Foliage forms a cute & compact 8" high & 18" wide rosette with attractive lance shaped fuzzy leaves with funky scalloped margins. Native to the desert ranges from Southern California to Eastern Washington & Utah, Oenothera caespitosa likes poor dry well drained soil & heat doesn't bother it one bit. Makes an excellent addition to any dry garden!
